I picked up a camera for the first time forty years ago to take pictures of family, and friends in high school. What started as a hobby soon became a habit, then an obsession…. Now it’s my love and passion! I was always interested in becoming a photographer it seemed like the most expeditious way of combining my creativity with a way of making a living. Photography has always been on my mind, like any other artist tool, is a beautiful way of communicating. A great picture is in focus, sharp, and achieves a sense of balance and tone. I’m still developing my photographer’s eye so that there is not a lot of sameness in my photos. Reflecting on when I was 17 years old my Father knew how much I love photography, so he decided to help me build my darkroom so that I could develop my own Black &. White picture. The ability to develop your picture was like a dream come true. For my father to share that part of my life and my dream with me was the most incredible feeling to have growing up. Going into a photo shoot with a general idea of what I want keeping in mind what my restrictions are. I walk in with a very definite vision of what I think would be a great shot. It’s mostly a feeling. You can tell when you are in rhythm when you and your subject start to click. I try to develop a strong rapport with my subject. I always tell them” I will be you and you be me. As a visual artist, I want my picture to hold the interest of any person for more than a couple of minutes. A photo can relate so much emotion and tap strongly into personal experiences. Photography is more of a solo thing and the results are immediate. I have total control over what I want to say. I chose fashion because fashion photography is an extremely creative field and portrait with a lot of feeling and emotions.
